Williams Families In Borth

Here I have documented what I have currently been able to find out about Williams families that originated in Borth, Cardiganshire, Wales. I am attempted to create a one name study of all the Williams in Borth as a means of identifying which John & Margaret Williams I am descended from.

Williams was a rather common name in Borth in the C19th to the extent that there are three couples called John & Margaret any one of which may have been the parents of William Williams christened in 1811. Quite a challenge, narrowing it down. Hence the desperate measure of trying to document all of them and link them together. I have approached this by going through the census records from 1841 to 1911, documenting the graveyards at Llandre and Pen-y-Garn, going through parish registers for Llandre. Searching wills on the National Library of Wales site, using data from Reg Davies excellent Welsh Mariners site and finally with help from other researchers with Borth Williams amongst their ancestors.

The research still has a long way to go. Some of the records here depict fairly complete families whilst others may be a single unconnected record. More than likely some records are duplicated, I just haven't yet confirmed they are one and the same person. Quite possibly some I have decided are the same may not be!
