Ancestors of John Woods

I have been researching my family for a little while now and managed to generate some substantial family trees. Having reached this stage it seems that now is a good time to publish this information, hence this website. I have opted to only publish details of those ancestors that are deceased in order to protect the identity of those still living.

Table of Contents

bullet  Woods Family   Woods - Plural of Wood - Dweller at a wood [M.E. wode, O.E. wudu]
bullet  Williams Family   Williams - William's (son). William - Beloved Helm(et). Wilhelm and Willelm figure in Anglo-Saxon genealogies but the name was not common. It owes its popularity to the first two post-Conquest rulers who are referred to in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles as Willelm.
bullet  Beeforth Family
bullet  Brown Family   Brown/Browne - Of dark reddish complexion. [M.E. br(o)un]. Brun was a fairly common name among the Anglo-Saxons. Brown(e) is sometimes an Anglicization of the German Braun and French Brun.
