Woods Family Woods - Plural of Wood - Dweller at a wood [M.E. wode, O.E. wudu]
Williams Family Williams - William's (son). William - Beloved Helm(et). Wilhelm and Willelm figure in Anglo-Saxon genealogies but the name was not common. It owes its popularity to the first two post-Conquest rulers who are referred to in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles as Willelm.

Brown Family Brown/Browne - Of dark reddish complexion. [M.E. br(o)un]. Brun was a fairly common name among the Anglo-Saxons. Brown(e) is sometimes an Anglicization of the German Braun and French Brun.
